Can you read it okay? This sign hangs over our bed. I found it in a little shop last year just before our 14th wedding anniversary. It's funny. I often think of these words now as we go about our days and evenings together...
"Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be."
All of our marriages will always need a little work here and there and sometimes a great deal of work. Let God do the work. Our part is easy ladies! Every morning when you rise up, drop first to your knees. After praise and thanksgiving, hand your marriage over to the Lord. Every single day now! Don't pray for the Lord to change this, that and the other in your husband's heart. Just give your marriage over to Him every morning and ask the Lord to make you a "student of your husband's heart".
Imagine this ladies: If Jesus were to come and stay in your home (in visible and physical being), how would He love and serve your husband? Would Christ complain about the shoes left by the recliner or would He just smile and pick them up and put them away? If your husband comes home and spends the entire evening sitting in front of a ballgame on the television, what might Christ do while your husband is watching the game? If your husband has a big deadline or project at work, what might Christ do to help your husband prepare?
Think about loving your husband as the Lord does. We will fail everyday, no doubt, but the Lord will begin to change our hearts. Don't concern yourself with your husband's heart, just pray for his heart. Leave your husband in the hands of our amazing Heavenly Father every morning and set yourself about the work of being the wife that God designed you to be.
I am determined to be a woman by GOD's DESIGN! A wife BY GOD's DESIGN! And a mother by God's design. I refuse to buy into the cheap imitation of what this world has to offer. I refuse to settle for the very best that I can do when God's best is awaiting me. God made this man that I call my husband and God created marriage.
I could write pages upon pages of how the Lord has changed my heart and how He has blessed our marriage. I could tell you how the Lord has ingrained His word so deeply into my being that it has changed who I am. I could tell you that every time I have tried to be Mrs. Klause without daily seeking the Lord, I have failed miserably. I can tell you, without a doubt, that God's plan for me as a wife has been amazing. I started my journey to be a wife by God's design about four years ago, won't you come and join me? ;0)
