"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." ~~Philippians 2:3
We do not like to admit it. Most of us think quite highly of ourselves.
The bible says that pride is a shameful thing. This world teaches that being proud of who we are and what we can accomplish is a good thing.
This morning as I was stirring the cream into my coffee, I watched as the cream swirled into the coffee and simply disappeared into the coffee. I thought of how easily we swirl into the world.
We are to be set apart.
To love the Lord with all of our hearts and all of our minds and all of our souls sets us apart...it makes us different... It is not the warm and comfortable swirl.
We should be more like oil to water. No matter how much you stir or shake...they don't mix.
When we find goodness within ourselves, when we raise our heads high with quiet pride...
We are comfortably swirling.
Where in my life, on this day, is there stife?
Where in my life, on this day that the Lord has made, is there vainglory?
God, make it clear to me...
Cause me to know lowliness as Christ knew it.
Change my heart; draw me nearer.
It must all be for His glory.
