Crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch...

A Man Walks Through an Old Growth Forest Photographic Print by Joel Sartore

So here is an excerpt from our discussion at breakfast this morning.

The girls are eating their breakfast.  I am reading to them from the book of Matthew, chapter three.  This morning I read verses 1-7.  I read the passage straight through and then I go back and read it verse by verse and explain the words and the general meaning of the sentence.  Each verse is usually followed by discussion oftentimes quite lengthy.  After we have read through each verse and discussed each verse, then I go back and read the passage straight through again.  Finally, the girls give a narration of what they have just heard.

Here is the passage from God's word:                                                                                                1In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,  2And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.  3For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  4And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.  5Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,  6And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.  7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

We talk about verse one, verse two, verse three and then we get to verse four.  "And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins..."  So we talk about the clothing that John was wearing and why he may have been wearing such clothing.  I give a definition for raiment, girdle and loins.  We discuss the pregnancies of Mary and Elizabeth and I have reminded them that Jesus and John were cousins and relate that their own cousins.  Then the second part of verse four, "...and his meat was locusts and wild honey."  Bailey's face gets all scrunched up as she is crunching her cereal in her mouth.  :0)   Kennedy looks at Bailey and plays off of her expression with her own scrunched facial expression.  It is what "eeewwwww" looks like on a persons face.  ;0)

Kennedy says, "Momma what's a locust."  Bailey hops in and reminds her of the plagues on Egypt and Kennedy scrunches her face up some more.

Kennedy:  John ate bugs?

Momma Klause:  Yes ma'am, and honey.  It is what God's word says so we know it is the truth.

Bailey:  Kennedy, did you know that there are still people that eat bugs?

Kennedy:  (With an expression of utter amazement.)  No Bay-way, they don't.

Momma Klause:  Yes Kennedy there are people that eat bugs.  The Klause family does not eat bugs but if that is all that we had to fill our tummies, we would be grateful for them.  Maybe locusts are particularly tasty with wild honey.

** Their faces are still all scrunched up in the "eeeewwwww" position. **

Momma Klause:  (Assuming that all questions have been answered and with nothing more to add, I read the next verse.)  5Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,

Bailey:  Momma?  (With a very serious look on her face.)

Momma Klause:  Yes Bailey.

Bailey:  I'm still thinkin' that pizza would have tasted better.

What happened to Tuesday?

Busy Day Perpetual Calendar Tin Sign

~~~~
Okay, somebody keeps moving Tuesday!
Which one of you is it?
:0)
Either Tuesday sneaks up on me or it passes me right by.
I have some readers that stop in just on Tuesdays to read Teacup Tuesdays and then they spend a few minutes looking over the last weeks posts.  I have had quite the time being consistent with my Teacup Tuesday postings and I should apologize, at least to some folks.
I will try to do better.
~~~

I have something good to share with you all.  I just reviewed a book that many of you really should consider reading.  I am waiting on some 'linking' information from the author before I post on the matter.  So, this week we shall have TEACUP THURSDAY.  See....it just doesn't have the same ring.  :0)

Have a wonderful day!

Texas Twang - Part 1

Texas Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes in a Field, Texas Hill Country, Texas, USA Photographic Print by Panoramic Images

I thought I might better review my vocabulary to make sure I haven't lost any of the Texan in me.

;0)

My Papa Simpson talked as Texan as they come!  I always get a kick out of looking at the "Texas Twang" dictionaries.

The one thing that he said that I think of all the time is "voil".  "Mama get me some voil to wrap this leftover chicken in."  :0)  Most pronounce that word "foil".

For those of you that have never been to Texas or haven't been around folks from Texas, this really and truly is how some folks pronounce these words.  I do say some as you find below but not all...but you can be guaranteed that I have family or friends that sound just like this!

~~~~~~~~
air- 60 minutes.
"Ah monly drivin 50 mahls pur air." - (hour)
evurwonsinawhahl- periodically, but infrequently.
"Ah git tuh drahv mah Pappa's pickup truk evurwonsinawhahl." - (every once in a while)
fixin- preparing. getting ready.
"Ode Joe's fixin tuh find himself in uh heap uh trouble." - (fixing (to)
fraze- to render a material solid from temperature reduction.
"Fah don't git mah coat Ah mona fraze!" - (freeze)
frunt- opposite of back.
"Thuh cawer's out frunt." (front)
gunna or gonna- a modifier which comes between the subject and the verb used to add emphasis, or to fill in and make the sentence sound right; used with third person.
"Hay's gunna git wet fee don't git outta thet rain." - (going (to)
Caring for your lips...
Chap-stick...    glue stick...
They have their similarities.
Kennedy was smacking on the glue!  I heard her little lips smacking behind me as I was chopping veggies for dinner.  I turned around and she showed me her find and then informed me that she would keep it in her pocket.  "Mama, pok."  She always makes me laugh.   :0)
I originally posted this over a year ago.  I set up a category just for the posts that will bring a laugh:  "Just For Fun and Maybe A Few Belly-Laughs".  I have over 400 posts so it will take me a while to go back and find all the posts that were particularly humorous.  ;0)
I pray that you will have a blessed Monday.
Loops, buns & all kinds of fun...
The girlies and I had some fun a few days ago.
Dsc01387
Dsc01385
In the Klause House (that rhymes by the way), we call these DOG EARS...
Dsc01388
Dsc01389
Dsc01390
...and these are FUNNY BUNS...
Dsc01394
...BRAIDED DOG EARS...
Dsc01398
...these are LOOPITY-LOOPS; that is a dog ear made into a braided dog ear and then looped back on itself  :0) ...
Dsc01399
...and these (silly girl) are ROLY POLY BUNS; that is a dog ear that is then rolled and pinned back on itself...
Dsc01410
...and this is my sweet Addison wearing her first set of PIGTAILS...
Dogears are long and floppy versus the short and thin pigtail.
:0)
Glad you stopped in to join us for a bit of fun.
P. S. I wore my hair in FUNNY BUNS all day but somehow we failed to snap a photo of it.
